So why leaping robots?

Yea right. People in need of a robot caretaker shouldn’t be mobile enough to leave a room, let alone walk up/down a staircase. Scientists just wanted to watch robots hop over stuff. Which we understand, but still…

I dont understand how jumping robots could help anybody. I picture in my head an old lady on a bed that needs caring and then she tells the jumping robot to go do something. But then the robot would just jump on her head and take her purse or something. Any thoughts??
